South Africa's Premier Automotive Fluids & Spares Specialist

Welcome to The Classic Garage (www.theclassicgarage.co.za). We do not just sell automotive parts, premium lubricants, and oil analysers—we use them.

Based in South Africa, we are a premier e-commerce destination built by automotive enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. We specialise in supplying drivers with top-tier fluids, advanced diagnostic equipment, and authentic components for both vintage classic cars and modern high-performance vehicles.

Built in the Garage: Our Automotive Heritage

Our foundation in automotive engineering started early, turning wrenches alongside a father whose passion was sparked by owning two iconic VW Beetles. That early exposure built a lifelong obsession with understanding how engines work, how to make them faster, and most importantly, how to keep them running reliably.

Like many gearheads, we had to learn some lessons the hard way. Our air-cooled journey peaked with a wildly ambitious project: turbocharging a VW Beetle by blowing boost straight through the stock carburettor. It was an incredible build right up until the moment the engine blew.

The Daily-Driven Philosophy

That blown motor fundamentally changed our approach. In 2021, the focus shifted to daily-driving a classic 1971 VW Beetle exactly as it was intended to be driven.

The ultimate lesson learned was simple: you do not need boundary-pushing modifications to enjoy a car. Absolute reliability comes down to high-quality, OEM-spec components—like genuine Bosch voltage regulators and ignition parts—paired with uncompromising, premium oil.

A Family-Driven E-Commerce Hub

That relentless pursuit of the best period-correct lubricants to keep a daily driver running perfectly led to the birth of this online store.

Today, The Classic Garage is a true family-run, multi-brand automotive hub. With Soraya Hathey-Ernest officially joining the team to manage business operations and ensure seamless order fulfilment, we guarantee that every package is handled with the same care we put into our own cars.

While classic heritage oils remain at our core, we recognise that true automotive passion spans across all eras. That is why our catalogue has aggressively expanded to meet the strict demands of modern daily driving, track-level performance, and advanced engine maintenance across South Africa.
